Common Ground
Expressive Feat Productions 2006
The aim of the Common Ground project was for participants to explore the theme ’sense of place and identity in a period of great change’ through community interaction in the development and production of a regional creative film drawing on the creation of four physical characters inspired by local stories.
Community workshops were undertaken to create the basis for the film’s content, sessions were based upon the idea of ‘place and identity’ relating to North Kent and specifically the four key areas of Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale. The ‘period of great change’ was the great financial and structural development ongoing throughout the Thames Gateway region.
The projects main objectives were:
-
to promote social inclusion within the project and give communities who would normally find it difficult to take part in arts activity the opportunity to do so
-
to build links between local artists and arts
organisations and key communities to develop their creative skills
The film was completed in March 2006, and was screened to participants in May 2006.
